Patrick is the Chairman of Spirit and has worked in the domiciliary care industry for many years. He began his career by founding Acorn Home Care Ltd in 1985, a regional domiciliary care provider throughout the North of England and the Midlands. In 2006 and with fifteen branches and over 650 staff, Patrick, the sole shareholder, sold the business to Claimar PLC. Since then Patrick has remained an active presence in the care sector and still acts as an Executive Director for Ceretas, the professional association dedicated to individuals working in home care.

Patrick was instrumental in initiating the Ceretas National Home Care Awards in 2006, an awards ceremony that pays tribute to the people working within home care. Patrick has forged strong links with sponsors and The Royal Bank of Scotland, who have continued to support this event for the last four years. He continues to manage the bi-annual Ceretas Networking Dinners, also supported by The Royal Bank of Scotland, bringing together large home care providers and key industry players for a roundtable event. Patrick is a Partner in Care Comm LLP, a social care communications company. Care Comm LLP are the organisation behind the Great British Care Awards, a series of awards throughout the UK which honours good practice and aims to raise the profile of social care.
