Personal Assistants attend a 5-day Induction Training Course. Training is delivered by our nursing and management team, to ensure that all training sessions follow appropriate guidelines, incorporate best practice and are tailor made to our clients' needs.
Personal Assistants are supervised by our Nurses and Care Managers and are regularly appraised so that personal development and training needs are identified. We believe it is this close management that not only benefits our staff but ultimately means that our clients are supported too.
We are committed to supporting on-going training and development. As well as statutory training requirements Spirit Care undertakes clinical competency training programmes bespoke to our clients which are delivered and managed by our Nurse Managers.
The nursing team at Spirit deliver Advanced Skills training courses for PA's working with clients requiring more complex clinical interventions. The courses are flexible in nature to ensure that staff are receiving training in subjects which are pertinent to their client.
The training is primarily theoretical with practical sessions to demonstrate equipment and specific techniques. The subjects covered include advanced airway management, gastrostomy, jejunostomy and naso-gastric feeding, diabetes and epilepsy management.
The course will be supported by one to one competency and assessment training by a Registered Nurse with the PA's their client. For PA's these skills are non-transferrable and client specific to ensure clinical safety.
PA's will work through competency booklets in each task and only be deemed competent when the client, nurse and PA feel confident in their skill.
